: Hi, my name is Karen, I have been a ham since 21 December, 2001. Starting with VK2HKB, VK2YKB and finally VK2AKB on the 28 June, 2002. My husband Peter VK2EHQ has been licenced since 1980, and operated a large BBS for about 17 years, which sadly he closed down a few years back when a storm damaged the main 65’ tower and the 9 element log periodic yagi.
My QTH is Kulnura, 100 km’s NW of Sydney the capital city of New South Wales on the east coast of Australia. We are on a 40 acre farm and grow meat chickens (about 74,000 each time) and have a few acres of citrus trees.
My rig is a Yaesu FT 847 Transceiver with FC-20 AAT and ‘Butternut’ vertical (9 band) antenna.
I have been an architectural draftsperson for 21 years and am enjoying listening to the radio whilst I work at my computer. I made my very 1st QSO on HF 20 metres 15/03/03 and have already made many new friends and look forward to sending and receiving many QSL cards. 73’s & 88’s Karen
